I have waited long for a new king in the 1592 bracket, where the Formula E Gen2 resides undisputedly. I now have high hopes in the Peugeot 9X8, which is said to be absolutely awesome. But can it deliver? Let's have the young stallion challenge the old bull!
Day #4 of Classic Season, from 1400+ points (Pro League) to 1600+ points (Champion League), the car with the higher average points per race wins.
Start-to-finish victories are easy with this car, as its acc is almost as fast as the E Gen2's. It loves paved countryside tracks with long bends, like Patagonia or Transylvania, where it can outrun its opponents on nitro on the insides of the corners. It's just a little fiddly on futuristic tracks like Orbital Loop, which I otherwise like.
The 9X8 has great handling and, unlike the E Gen2, no skid. Aside from that, it doesn't easily wreck in MP. The nitro efficiency is not great, but good: In one race, I out-nitroed a Tramontana. It's easy with this car to stay in front, but it's also good for fighting your way to pos #1.
In one race, I got wrecked and wanted too much when fighting my way back to the top. That's when I noticed that the 9X8 is no good for emotional or angry driving, it's made for smart cookies who never lose their nerves. ๐
It's crucial to get the start right and not get tangled up with opponents, which requires the right attitude ("I... am... speed!") ๐คฃ But the more opponents you have, the more difficult this is to achieve, and the worse the EGen2 gets. So it's good that you mostly have only 3 opponents in B class! I was surprised to have some serious trouble against an Aston Martin V12 Speedster, so I've made this one of the next cars I'm gonna Pro.
I was also suprised that I survived some mid-field fights this time, so maybe the car got less prone to getting wrecked in Update 65!? Aside from that, I can only repeat myself: great acc, terrific nitro efficiency, awesome car, great for start-to-finish victories on any track! Only little backdrafts: slippery when off the road, large drift radius.
Summary
The same procedure as in the last review, Miss Sophie? - The same procedure as in every review, James! Undisputed crown, as always, goes to the EGen2. But the 9X8 is very great, too, so it deserves its spot alongside the EGen2 in my best cars list. ๐๐๐
