My latest addition to the 1592 bracket is the Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Only after Proing it, I noticed that it is actually a very good car, so I want to find out how good it is compared to my current king, the Formula E Gen2.
After 4 straight victories with each car with full boosters, I've noticed that there's no real competition in this bracket any more, as we're already at day #7 of the Classic Season. So in order to make it more interesting, I did a second round without Tuning Kit and also with music to distract my concentration.
2 times 4 races in a row, Classic Season day #7, ~1950 points
10 points for 1st place, 6 points for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th and 1 for 6th
Porsche 911 GT3 RS Round 1 (full boosters) 1st: 4 Round 2 (no Tuning Kit) 1st: 2 2nd: 2 Points: 72 / 80
With the Porsche, it's quite hard to get away at the start. But after that, the car's fun to drive, has awesome handling, and is much more relaxed to drive than the nervous E Gen2. The driving experience is almost the same as with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport (rank 1682), it only feels a little more bulky. That's why it's harder to control in complex cornering sequences than the GT4 Clubsport or the E Gen2.
Without Tuning Kit, I lost one race against a Gangstar Vegas Ramona and one against an E Gen2, but in another race I wrecked an E Gen2 without even having tried to. So the disadvantage without Tuning Kit doesn't seem to be so big.
Formula E Gen2 Round 1 (full boosters) 1st: 4 Round 2 (no Tuning Kit) 1st: 1 2nd: 1 3rd: 2 Points: 64 / 80
The E Gen2 is quick, agile and precise. You only have to steer a little carefully, as it tends to skid sometimes, especially when leaving the paved road. But you can compensate that by microdrifting every now and then, in the case of the E Gen2 even without losing any precious time. It's even great against another E Gen2. The start acc is so fast that you find yourself with your nose in the ass of the person in front of you, if you don't steer enough.
So you mostly win most starts and then stay in front, unless... you lack the Tuning Kit. In that case, it happened to me several times that I got crashed early in the race and couldn't win it any more.
Summary
Looking at the scored points, one might assume the Porsche was stronger than the E Gen2. Which it really is, in case you're going without Tuning Kit. But in real competition, you would normally not do that, so this result is not really representative. That's why I've decided that this review ends in a draw, and the rivalry continues.
Next up, I will drive each car on Classic Season day #3 and find out how many races it takes to advance from Pro League (1400 points) to Champion League (1600 points). The car with the higher average number of points per race will be declared the winner of the contest.
