Today I test the BMW M6 (rank 1409) against the Audi R8 LMS Ultra (rank 1412). In my mind, the Audi was always an underrated king in the 1412 bracket. But is it really as good as I thought? Plus, recently I have discovered the BMW M6, which conquered my heart and became my favorite car in the bracket. But can it keep up in real competition?
6 races in a row, Classic Season day #6, around 1975 points, full boosters
10 points for 1st place, 6 points for 2nd, 4 for 3rd, 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th and 1 for 6th
BMW M6
1st: 5
2nd: 1
Points: 56 / 60
First of all, the BMW is a nice starter, better than the Maserati GranTurismo or the Lotus Evora Sport 410, but not as nice as the McLaren MP4/8. Secondly, it's a heavy car, which can easily wreck lighter cars like the McLaren, which is a lot of fun. (MUAHAHAHA!) It can outrun the higher-ranked Maserati on the track, and I like the easy-going handling, which feels very stable and safe. All 6 races long, my car was never wrecked, crashed, drowned or anything. So all in all, this car is the perfect allrounder for all kinds of tracks.
Audi R8 LMS Ultra
1st: 4
2nd: 2
Points: 52 / 60
That's why the BMW wins this review, but with only a slight lead, slighter than the points might suggest. Both cars are great and fun to drive and stay on my list of best cars in the 1412 bracket, along with the McLaren MP4/8. And maybe the Ariel Atom V8, but more on that in a future review!

On the one hand, I outran a fully boostered McLaren in 2 races, probably due to the much better nitro efficiency. And I won some of the races with a much more considerable lead than with the BMW. The Audi is a good starter, too. Whenever I already started in the front, winning the race without much effort was almost a sure thing. Sometimes, I never even saw another car during the whole race.
On the other hand, I had problems finding a good drift/nitro rhythm in the spirals and even crashed there once without external impact, probably due to the large drift radius. Which was very bad, because I was unlucky with the track choice: The first 4 of my 6 races were all either in Sector 8 or Munich Subway. And that's the problem about this car: Racing success is track-dependent. It's mostly an even better car than the BMW - but not always!
